Finally, the movie continues Will Turner's story with his son trying to break the Flying Dutchman's Curse. He has to find the Trident of Poseidon and gets help from a hottie named Carina (who everyone thinks is a witch in the beginning of the movie and doesn't go anywhere since) and of course, Captain Jack Sparrow. The introduction of Jack is amazing in this one, as this time he's involved in some heist (a la Fast Five) and it's a thrilling chase.
Captain Jack is being pursued by the grotesque yet scary Salazar and his band of ghost pirates. Apparently Captain Jack's compass breaks the curse and Salazar wants revenge on Jack. As far as villains go, Salazar is one of the better ones. Javier Bardem's portrayal as Salazar is actually quite good and he seems to be having fun with the role. Midway through the movie, he holds Barbossa's crew hostage in attempt to find Captain Jack Sparrow. If Barbossa's crew doesn't find him by sunset, he would kill everyone after he tells the story about Jack when he was a little kid.
Then they find Jack and sick zombie sharks at him which is another thrilling sequence in the movie. Seriously, the effects in this movie is so much better than the last installment which looked like crap. This leads to the climax of the film, which I won't spoil, but it does remind me of the end of the video game Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings which was also about a staff.
Honestly, I felt this was one of the better sequels of the franchise. At the end of the credits, it sets up for another movie so don't believe the previews about anything being the the Final Adventure because they stuck BEGINS at the end to throw you off. That's fine. They can make as much as these movies as they want. I'll be anticipating these Pirates movies until Johnny Depp is on a walker.
