I'm a strong supporter of Nintendo. In my eyes, the death of
Nintendo is the death of video games. Which begs the question: If history repeats itself and the Nintendo Switch performs poorly, will Nintendo being joining forces with the mobile world and, even worse, become a third party developer? If Nintendo plays it smart, they won't be... but things aren't looking so good.
When Nintendo released that Pokemon Go (remember that?) and that amazing thing of people leaving their homes, wandering the streets, not robbing anyone, and lowering crime as a whole, I thought Nintendo had something there. As long as Nintendo kept the hype going, maybe update it with some cool stuff, keep gamers hooked. Guess what? They didn't. In fact, they just let the Pokemon Go fizzle out. It's shameful.
Nintendo did try again with Super Mario Run which begs the question if they are testing out waters in case the Nintendo Switch. At one point, this company swore up and down they would never join the mobile market. Low and behold, they did and I think Pokemon Go is an eye-opener.
Then Nintendo did another smart thing: The NES Classic Mini. It's hard to find because Nintendo is notorious for shipping low quantities. Then they got those scalpers which needs to be punched. But now I hear Nintendo is going to stop shipment in March or April. Why??? They can make a fortune off of these minis. If this rumor is true, Nintendo is dumb.
With the Nintendo Switch coming out, the lineup isn't impressive. I know a lot of people will buying that Zelda game. I can get it on the WiiU and be happy. I hear Nintendo is done with their new Mario game but that won't happen until Christmas. You see, they still have an abysmal lineup of games and that's what worries me. What if this is another system that you won't see an abundance of games?
I have a WiiU and it sucks waiting for all these games to come out. You were lucky to have one game a month and this was the start of the systems lifecycle. I got it when Super Mario 3D World came out. I was excited for Mario Kart 8 and the new Smash Bros. At least the WiiU gave me games to be excited about.
Fact is, Nintendo should have waited until holiday. Honestly, Super Mario Odyssey is the only worthwhile game besides Zelda but I'm happy with it just on my WiiU. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out but I already own that on my WiiU. Give me Mario Kart 9.
I seriously hope Nintendo makes some amazing games on this system. I hate seeing the mighty fall and Nintendo is too good of a company with excellent franchises to go down. But, if it does, hopefully they go and make a system that is cost effective like maybe the Nintendo 2 which welcomes more 8-bit and maybe even 16-bit nostalgia games for the norm. Something tells me, that might not happen.
