The film immediately opens to Daniel Craig waking up in a panic. He doesn't know who he is or how he got there. All he knew was that he has this metallic bracelet on his arm and he can't get it off. Three old guys on horses stroll by him and they aren't too friendly.... so 007 kills them.
Pretty soon 007 runs into Indiana Jones' son (who isn't Shia Labitch) named Percy. This jerk likes to make everyone's lives in town miserable but 007 likes to beat him up every now and then. They both get thrown in jail and we are introduced to Indiana Jones looking like he could be the bad guy of the film as he interrogates somebody tied between two horses. When Indy finally confronts Bond, the aliens attack and steal Indy's son and the towns people's women. This is where Bond discovers that his bracelet can shoot projectiles and take down massive ships. Seeing that he is useful, Indiana Jones enlist the help of Bond, some bandits, and a pack of Indians to help take down this demon (not alien) menace and to save the people they love.
Let me start out by saying that I was surprised on how much characterization this film had, especially Ford's character. He starts out as this rough and gruff Colonel who looks like he could backstab people in a heartbeat but his character becomes more human later on, and I found myself rooting for him. I always loved Harrison Ford, but this could be one of his best films to date. He was great!
The film is entertaining, but I never felt like it was anything special. It was just a film that went on a certain course that never really felt big to me. I liked the comradeship on the film's third act against the aliens, but I was hoping that the film would take a different course and maybe put the cowboys in the alien spaceship itself, maybe even through space. The aliens themselves look good, but I was constantly reminded of the alien from Super 8 with these things. They pretty much have the same build.
The film is entertaining and worth a watch. I didn't walk out of the theater thinking it was great but I didn't think it was bad, either. Still it's a welcome change to see Bond and Indy team up to take on the alien scum of the universe!
