Anyway, those were good times. The best game on that system had to be Adventure. I remember those duck-looking dragons used to scare me as a kid. As soon as they come right at you, your heart starts racing. Then you have to play tag as the dragon opens its mouth trying to eat you. Then if it does, you just sit there squeezing out of the stomach. Believe it or not, I did manage to get out with a glitch but don't remember how.
Adventure works like this: You are a square who must go through this map full of tight spaces and sometimes dark, and you are being hunted by dragons and a stupid bat. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that damn bat. There's a bat that flies around that unfortunately you can't kill and takes your shit. Like if you have the sword or the game-changing chalice, that bat might chase you until it takes it from you. If it does, guess what? You have to go look for it. Depending on what it is, you may have a dragon guarding it.
So the object of the game is finding the keys to the castles. There's a yellow (or gold) key, a white key and a black key (that's racist, but hey, this is before we like to be offended by everything) and then you look into each castle to find that chalice to bring back to the gold castle while being hunted by dragons and a stupid bat. You can also get items along the way like the bridge that helps you cross walls and gaps, a magnet to bring objects closer, and a sword (or arrow) to help you kill those fucking dragons. They will chase you and there's this one dragon who is fast and won't stop chasing you. I hate him.
The game is highly addictive. I may have to plug in my Atari Flashback soon and play it. It comes with the sequel which I hear was never released. The map is bigger and more confusing. I prefer the first one. Sadly, this game is better than most of the shit that comes out today. Video games are just so complicated these days.... for me anyway.
